Britney Spears says she is collaborating with some "amazing" songwriters on new music.

The singer is currently working on the follow-up to her 2013 record 'Britney Jean'.

Speaking to E! on Sunday (August 16), the US star confirmed that sessions are going well.

Spears said: "We're having fun right now. I'm working with some women who are amazing writers.

"I have ballads and, of course, dance music - fun cheeky sexy stuff."

Spears was speaking at the Teen Choice Awards, with the singer picking up the Icon honour at the event.

The singer's last release meanwhile was the 2015 single 'Pretty Girls', which featured Iggy Azalea.
