Zayn Malik and Calvin Harris in Twitter spat after Taylor Swift diss

Singer Zayn Malik appeared to take a bit of a swipe at Taylor Swift this evening, which led to her boyfriend Calvin Harris stepping in to defend her on Twitter.

Malik shared a post on the social media site that features a quote from Swift, in which she talks about removing her music from Spotify in order to keep it profitable, and it also features a counter argument from Miley Cyrus, who suggests that she doesn't care if people download her music for free or don't buy her albums because she's already financially stable and is happy enough without earning more money.

Upon seeing the post, Calvin Harris hit back at Malik and tweeted: "If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry... stay out my f**kin' mentions pls. While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor f**ker in a basement making your new favourite record trying to survive. Meaning... stay out of things you don't understand."

The former One Direction star quickly noticed Harris' remarks and responded, tweeting directly at him: "Ha, you just made an absolute fool of yourself, mate. I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out."

Harris then tried to clear the air and replied: "All good, it was the quote not you personally mate. best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice."
