Ed Sheeran has been named the most influential artist on Spotify under the age of 25.

The singer-songwriter, who released his second album 'x' last year, was the most streamed act on the platform in 2014.

In a new list of the most powerful young artists on Spotify, Sheeran has come out top.

The chart takes into account playback figures as well as No.1 hits and the growth of streams.

At No.2 on the list is Ariana Grande, while Sam Smith and Miley Cyrus follow.

One Direction round off the top five.
