Tesco to become first UK supermarket to stock vinyl

Tesco is set to become the first supermarket chain in the UK to sell vinyl.

The company will start stocking the revived medium with Iron Maiden's new album 'The Book of Souls' on September 4.

Tesco music buyer Michael Mulligan's told Engadget that the business is evolving its physical music strategy following the sale of record players.

He said: "In the last year we began selling record decks in our largest stores and initial sales are very encouraging, so giving our customers some new vinyl to play on those decks seems like the logical next step."

As previously reported, Noel Gallagher's 'Chasing Yesterday' was named in July as the best selling vinyl in the UK this year.
