Keith Richards: 'Rap music shows that lots of people are tone deaf'

Rolling Stones icon Keith Richard has shared some perhaps unpopular opinions on his contemporaries and other music genres

Speaking to the New York Daily News, he kicked things off by criticising rock greats Metallica, who just headling Reading and Leeds Festival, and Black Sabbath: "Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath. I just thought they were great jokes."

He shared a similar opinion on hip-hop and rap music, adding: "Rap – so many words, so little said. What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another."

Richards' solo album, entitled 'Crosseyed Heart', will be officially released on 18 September.
