'Stitches' sensation Shawn Mendes has been named as one of the winners in this year's 5th Annual Streamy Awards. 

It was announced last month that the heartthrob had been nominated in the Breakthrough Artist category, alongside Tori Kelly, MAX, Shawn Mendes and Rachel Platten, and he has now been crowned the winner.

Some of the winners were announced at a nominee reception in L.A. ahead of a live ceremony later this week and in addition to Mendes' success,  Weird Al Yankovic took the top cover song honours for 'Foil' (his parody of Lorde’s 'Royals'), and Alessia Cara won best original song for 'Here'.

The official Streamys will take place at the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, September 17 at 10pm ET on VH1. Grace Helbig and Tyler Oakley are set to host the event, which will feature musical performances by A Great Big World ft. Futuristic, Future, OMI, Sir Mix-A-Lot and Hailee Steinfeld.
