Jessie J joins NBC's 'Grease: Live' alongside Carly Rae Jepsen

Songstress Jessie J has joined the cast of NBC's 'Grease: Live' and while she won't be in the main cast, she will perform a live version of the song 'Grease (Is the Word)' by songwriter Barry Gibb to open the show.

The 'Domino' sensation took to her official Twitter page late last night (October 1) and confirmed the exciting news, writing: "Grease is the word! I'm thrilled to announce that I will officially be joining the @GreaseLive family!"

Other stars who have been announced for the project include 'Call Me Maybe' singer Carly Rae Jepsen, who will play Pink Lady Frenchy, and 'High School Musical' beauty Vanessa Hudgens, who has been cast as Rizzo. 'Grease: Live' is scheduled to air on Sunday, January 21, 2016 on FOX.

Earlier this summer, Jessie J told People magazine that she has a list of goals she wants to achieve in her lifetime and appearing in a film is one of them:

"Have a baby - not today! But that's something that I hope that I'm blessed with in my life. I would love to build a school in Africa. I would love to write a book. My first-ever film that I've done is gonna be announced soon. I'm not allowed to talk about it yet, but I've done a film. There's loads of things I wanna do. A cookbook... I want to be able to run for longer than 10 seconds. Yeah. And just keep writing great music. That's it."
