Florence + The Machine among nominees for 2015 Mercury Prize

Florence + The Machine have landed a nomination for this year's Mercury Prize.

The shortlist for the prestigious British album award was revealed today (October 16).

Florence + The Machine's 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful' is a front-runner.

The group are joined by acts such as Aphex Twin, Slaves, Jamie xx, Wolf Alice and Eska in the nominations.

The winner of the award will be revealed at its ceremony on November 20.

Simon Frith, chair of the Mercury Prize judges, commented: "This year's Mercury Prize shortlist includes seven debut albums and it celebrates artists from every stage of their careers.

"These musicians come from a fascinating variety of musical places, cultures and histories. What they have in common is the ambition and the craft, the ideas and the imagination to make great music!"

  • Gaz Coombes – Matador
  • C Duncan – Architect
  • ESKA – Eska

  • Slaves – Are You Satisfied?
  • SOAK – Before We Forgot How to Dream
  • Wolf Alice – My Love Is Cool
  • Jamie xx – In Colour
