Fleur East says debut album has 'a lot of attitude and sass'

Fleur East has offered more details about the sound of her upcoming debut record.

The singer has been busy working on fresh material since finishing runner-up on the X Factor in 2014.

Speaking in a new interview with Notion, East said that her album mixes positivity with "sass".

The Brit said: "I mean [the songs are] all kind of personal; a lot of it is light-hearted it’s very positive.

"If there’s anything negative, it has a positive spin on it, you know, because I wanted to keep it all very uplifting. It’s got a lot of attitude and sass.

"There’s a few personal experiences, like there’s one about breaking up and that initial feeling of when it’s just happened and you try put on that brave face, but it’s still very positive."

East will precede the record with her first single 'Sax' on October 23.

The singer rose to national fame on the ITV talent show when she performed a cover of Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' - despite the track not being released at the time.

The popularity of the performance encouraged Ronson's label to push forward the release of the hit tune.
