Sam Smith on mixed reaction to 'Writing's On The Wall'

Hitmaker Sam Smith has opened up about recording the new Bond theme and confessed that he didn't mind that the song, entitled 'Writing's On The Wall', had a mixed reaction because he's incredibly proud of it.

Speaking to the BBC's Annie Mac, the star admitted that he felt honoured to have been picked for the project and he loves the track he created for it:

"(Recording the song) felt like a dream come true for me, but I was very naive about the whole thing, because I love the song, so much, still love it. I was feeling really confident about it - and I still feel confident about it - but when I released it, I was very naive and I thought everyone would love it. But Bond, it's impossible for everyone to like a Bond song."

Smith went onto add that his fans were very supportive of it: "The fan base, they're mental, so that initial release with the mixed response, I was like, 'OK, just finding my feet'. But when it went to number one, it was just unbelievable, it was amazing."
