Ed Sheeran confirmed to perform at Race in America concert

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been confirmed to perform at an upcoming concert that will aim to ease racial tensions In America.

He will headline the Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on 18 November along with Pharrell Williams and Bruce Springsteen.

A+E Networks President Nancy Dubuc issued a statement about the event, which reads:

"By shining a light on the uncomfortable truth that racial inequity and bias still impact our society, we are looking to inspire people to go beyond short-lived, symbolic gestures."

The concert is being organised by the USA's A+E Network as a response to the terrible shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina in June that took the lives of 9 people. It will be broadcast on A+E Networks channels in the U.S. and other performers include Sting, Pink, and Sia.
