Ed Sheeran breaks incredible UK albums chart record with 'x'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has broken an impressive albums chart record in the UK with his latest offering, 'x'.

The hitmaker's album has now spent more time in the UK Top 10 than any other release and has notched up 72 weeks in total to date.

On Friday, the superstar took to his official Twitter page to share the amazing news and wrote the following message to his devoted fanbase: "'X' has now spent more time in the UK top 10 than any album ever, 72 weeks and counting, crazy stuff innit, fanks for helping break the record."

He recently opened up about his forthcoming new album to Billboard and admitted that his new material is very honest: "There's a lot more heart in it. It's a lot more honest than the last record."

"The last record was honest. There was a couple of songs like 'The Man', which I kind of wish I didn't put on. But there's probably seven songs on this new record that I wish I didn't put on when I release it. They're all a bit too brutally honest."
