Busted have reformed their original line-up for a UK and Ireland arena tour.

The pop-punks, who split in 2005, will hit the road next year for a series of live shows in May.

The news was confirmed at a press conference in London today (November 10) as Simpson rejoined the group.

Busted's Matt Willis and James Bourne joined forces with McFly to create McBusted in 2013.

However, Busted guitarist and vocalist Charlie Simpson declined to take part.

Speaking in 2014, the Fightstar man said he felt detached from his Busted past.

When asked if he is ever tempted to jam songs from the group's back catalogue, Simpson said:

"No...I think I was just so separated from it. To be honest, I don't tend to sit down in my own time and play my own songs.

"I haven't played a Fightstar song to myself since I've been doing my solo stuff, so it's not something that I do. If I'm jamming, I either write new stuff or play songs that I like [by] other people."

Busted's 2016 tour will open at London's Wembley Arena on May 11 before heading to Glasgow and Newcastle. There will be further dates in cities such as Cardiff, Belfast and Dublin.
