Lady Gaga and Sam Smith both receive Golden Globes nominations

Superstar Lady Gaga has been nominated for a prize at the forthcoming 2016 Golden Globes, which is set to take place on Sunday, January 10.

The pop icon turned screen star is up for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made For Television award for her role as The Countess in 'American Horror Story', and she will go head-to-head with the likes of Kirsten Dunst ('Fargo'), Sarah Hay ('Flesh And Bone'), Felicity Huffman ('American Crime'), and Queen Latifah ('Bessie').

Upon hearing the news, Gaga took to her official Twitter page and told her fans that she is overwhelmed by such high recognition: "I apologise to my neighbours I'm still screaming in my apt in NY! I'm nominated as an actress for a Golden Globe what a dream is this real!"

The Best Original Song - Motion Picture category also features some well-known tracks, including 'Love Me Like You Do', which was recorded by Ellie Goulding for 'Fifty Shades Of Grey', 'See You Again' from 'Furious 7', and Sam Smith's 'Writing's On The Wall' from 'Spectre'
