Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland's cause of death revealed

The music industry was shocked on Thursday, December 3 when it was confirmed that Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland had been found dead on a tour bus and his cause of death has now been revealed. 

His body was found while he was on tour with his band Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office shared a press release earlier today Friday (December 18) sharing that Weiland died of a "mixed drug toxicity: cocaine, ethanol and methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA)."

The statement adds that "other significant conditions are noted as atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, history of asthma and multi-substance dependence. Manner of death is accident."

48-year-old Weiland's funeral was held in Los Angeles Thursday, Dec. 10.
