Selena Gomez: 'It could knock me into the future of my music'

Songstress Selena Gomez has revealed that her latest single, 'Hands To Myself', showcases exactly where she wants to go with her music in the future.

The beauty recently told E Online that the track's distinctive sound is something she's passionate about and believes it could help carve out a space within that genre for her:

"It's got this funk to it that really created this whole sound that I feel like could knock me into the future of my music, to be honest. So it's exciting to see it come to life."

Earlier this month, Gomez admitted that her music will always be filled with emotion because the point of it is to communicate ideas and feelings to people: "Of course my personal life translates into my music. That's been known since 'The Heart Wants What It Wants'... that was the first time I ever stripped down and showed every part of my heart to people - it's a part of music."

She continued: "Of course it's a part of who I am, but that's not the point of music. When you listen to really deep emotional song it's going to mean something to you. I remember when I heard 'Hello'... I'm not thinking about what Adele went through, I'm thinking about what I went through."
