Rihanna brings one million subscribers to Tidal

Tidal is experiencing the Rihanna effect following the release of her new album 'Anti' on the streaming service.

The singer surprised fans by unveiling her eighth record on Thursday (January 28) through the Jay Z owned platform.

Samsung gave away one million free download codes, which came with a 60-day Tidal trial.

These were snapped up in a matter of hours.

'Anti' then became available to stream or buy through Tidal, with a spokesperson revealing that it was played 13 million times during its first 14 hours online.

The record meanwhile is now available on other platforms like iTunes.

Earlier this week the singer previewed the album with the song 'Work', which features Drake.

'Anti' follows up Rihanna's previous effort, 2012's 'Unapologetic'.
