Lady Gaga says Super Bowl national anthem was an 'honour'

Lady Gaga has spoken of her pride at performing this year's Super Bowl US national anthem.

The singer ran through 'Star Spangled Banner' at the American football event on Sunday (February 7).

The US star has received near universal praise for the slot, which enjoyed piano accompaniment.

Speaking on Twitter today (February 8), Gaga said she was proud to have been picked for the performance.

She wrote: "Congratulations to both teams and football fans.

"It was really an honor to sing for you on your big day."

In the next three weeks, Gaga will have performed at the Super Bowl, the Grammys and the Oscars - the first artist to do so.

The coveted Super Bowl half-time slot meanwhile saw Coldplay bring out guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.

In the football, the Denver Broncos trounced the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
