Adele dominates the biggest music night of the year with four Brits

Adele stole the show, winning four awards in total at the 2016 Brit Awards tonight (February 24).

Her first award The British Female Award was presented to her by One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.

Adele took the moment to publicly support fellow Sony artist, Kesha, who lost a court case against Sony and Dr Luke only last week.

Ant and Dec joked how she was able to finish her speech this time, referrring to when James Corden was embarrassingly forced to cut her off mid-speech a couple of years ago.

She then went on to win British Single for 'Hello' and was so excited that she forgot about the no-swearing policy for live TV shows.

Her third award was for Global Success and her fourth and final award was the Mastercard British Album of the Year for her album, '25.'

Other winners of the night were:

  • James Bay (British Male Solo Artist)
  • Tame Impala (International Group)
  • Coldplay (British Group)
  • Justin Bieber (International Male Solo Artist)
  • Catfish and the Bottlemen (British Breakthrough Act)
  • Björk (International Female Solo Artist)
  • One Direction (British Video of the Year)

David Bowie was given a posthumous 'Icon' Award. The Award was accepted by his friend, the actor Gary Oldman. Annie Lennox and Oldman gave touching beautiful tributes to their friend.

The tribute performance was sung by Lorde and featured some Bowie band members such as Earl Slick and bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey, who performed with him for two decades. Earl Slick had worked with Bowie since his Diamond Dogs tour in 1974. Lorde took to the stage wearing a black and white suit in the style of the Thin White Duke.

Lorde performed 'Life on Mars' against a backdrop of iconic images of the late legend. The estate of David Bowie worked in tandem with Brit bosses to honour the star with their poignant tribute.

Amazing performances were given by Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Adele, and Rihanna who brought out Drake for some dirty dancing.
