Sony can't legally free Kesha from Dr. Luke contractSony has admitted that it has no power to release Kesha from her contract with Dr. Luke. The producer has been embroiled in a court case with the singer, who he has worked with for around ten years. Kesha is signed to Luke's label Kemosabe, which is an imprint of Sony. However, the parent company say they are legally not in a position to release Kesha, despite saying the star can record music without involvement from the producer. Its attorney Scott A. Edelman said in a statement: "Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha. “Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party." Dr. Luke took to Twitter this week to deny all allegations. On Sunday (February 21) Taylor Swift gave Kesha $250,000 (£175,000) to assist her legal campaign.
