Lady Gaga had Kesha on her mind during Oscars ceremony

Lady Gaga says she was thinking about the plight of Kesha during her appearance at his year's Oscars.

The singer performed at the event on Sunday (February 28) in Los Angeles alongside victims of sexual assault.

Her track 'Til It Happens to You' was nominated for the Best Original Song prize, but the gong went to Sam Smith.

The tune was penned by Gaga and Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground, which is a documentary about rape on college campuses.

Singer Kesha is currently trying to escape a contract with producer Dr. Luke, who she claims previously drugged and raped her.

Tweeting before the Oscars, Gaga said: ".@kesharose I'll be thinking of u 2nite.

"This is not over we'll stand by u until you are free to live a HAPPY life. Everyone deserves that."

Kesha responded: "Thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars.

"It hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons."
