Demi Lovato checks into rehab

Disney star Demi Lovato has cancelled her appearances on the Jonas Brothers’ tour and checked into a treatment center to deal with “emotional and physical issues”.

A statement released by Lovato’s representatives on Monday night (November 1) did not explain specifically what drove the 18 year-old to check into the centre, but said: “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that".

Amid rumours of self-harm and an eating disorder, the statement added: “Demi and her family ask that the media respect her privacy during this difficult time”.

The 'Here We Go Again' singer, who stars in sitcom 'Sonny With a Chance' and Disney’s 'Camp Rock’'was on an international tour with her costars of the latter, the Jonas Brothers, but left the tour this week to enter the unnamed treatment facility.

Lovato’s representatives explained that the star regrets not finishing the tour but "is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future".
