Sia and Taylor Swift nominated for this year's APRA Music Awards

The nominees for this year's APRA (Australian Performing Right Association) Music Awards have been revealed and Sia Furler is leading the pack with four nods.

The singer-songwriter is up for most played Australian work (twice) and pop work of the year (twice) for "Elastic Heart" and the Jessie J hit, "Flashlight."

Sia made history last year at the ceremony by winning songwriter of the year, the event's top honour, for the third successive time.

The 2016 APRAs Song of the Year category includes Birds Of Tokyo for "Anchor", Jarryd James and Joel Little for "Do You Remember", Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker for "Let It Happen", Courtney Barnett for "Pedestrian at Best" and C.W. Stoneking for "The Zombie".

A brand new award category was introduced especially for this year, the Overseas Recognition Award, which will acknowledge significant achievements made by APRA AMCOS members based abroad. Notably missing from the nominees are 5 Seconds Of Summer, who won the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year gong at last year's APRAs.

The International Work of the Year prize will be won by one of the following artists: Taylor Swift (for 'Blank Space' or 'Style'), OMI ('Cheerleader'), Maroon 5 ('Sugar'), or Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars ('Uptown Funk'). The ceremony will take place next month on April 5 at Carriageworks in Sydney.
