Kiss icon Gene Simmons reckons Lady Gaga is the one star who can revive rock music.

The bassist told Rolling Stone that he feels the genre is now "dead" due to a lack of new bands coming through.

However, the US star believes pop-leaning Lady Gaga could inject new life into rock by channelling bands like Queen.

Simmons said: "As far as I'm concerned, if Lady Gaga dropped the disco and the pole dancing and all that stuff and put together a rock band, that would be legitimate, because she's got the musical goods.

"She can write songs, play instruments and can actually sing. And she understands the fearless quality of spectacle. I'd love to see her do Queen-style music. She can do it."

Gaga has regularly spoken of her love of rock music and has often plugged metal bands such as Iron Maiden and Anthrax.
