Ahead of the birth of his first child early next year, Ne-Yo has vowed to tone down his partying lifestyle in order to be a better father.

The singer’s girlfriend Monyetta is due in January of the new year (2011) and as the date approaches he’s making plans to commit to fatherhood.

The R&B singer explained: “I'm getting all my hard partying out of the way now. I want to get in shape as I'm taking fatherhood seriously. I want to be around as much as I can."

"I have been turning down opportunities to play New Year's Eve gigs for ungodly amounts of money. But you have to do these things; you can't get back the birth of your child."
