Bernard Butler planned to throw peanuts at Suede reunion

Reunited members of Suede have revealed that former guitarist Bernard Butler said he would show up to their reunion show to throw peanuts at them.

The group reformed for the first time since 2003 – without Butler – last March for the Teenage Cancer Trust show and their former bandmate – who left in 1994 – jokingly threatened to show up and pelt them from the crowd.

Richard Oakes, who replaced Butler after his departure, told NME magazine: "Bernard has been very sweet about the reunion. He did say he say he was going to come down London's Royal Albert Hall and throw peanuts at us, but he didn't in the end.

"I think he'd have been constantly hassled. We'd have had to smuggle him into the royal box and get him to do a little wave."

The reformed Suede are touring Europe throughout November and December and will be making an appearance at London’s O2 arena on December 7.
