Nicki Minaj Reveals Her Father Burned Down Her Childhood Home

Nicki Minaj has opened up about her childhood, revealing that her father once burned down the family home after fighting with her mother.

The 'Your Love' rapper was born in Trinidad and lived there until the age of five, the family then relocated to Queens in New York.

Speaking to Wendy Williams, Minaj recounted a night in Trinidad when a fight between her parents threw her father into such a rage that he set the house ablaze. Luckily, the future rap star and her brother were staying at a family friend’s house, after her mother had a premonition about the fire.

"He did burn the house down. It wasn't an attempt, he did," Minaj explained. "My mother was in the house and she had to run out at the last minute.

"She had a dream the night before that the house was going to be burned down so she had me and my brother sleep at a friend's house. And at three in the morning they woke us up and said, 'You have to go to your house, something's happened.' We ran four or five blocks [home] and we just saw smoke."
