Alanis Morissette has revealed that she and her rapper husband Souleye are expecting a son in December.

The singer and her husband – real name Mario Treatway – wed earlier this year after eight months of dating.

The gender of their first child has been speculated about since Alanis was seen leaving her baby shower with gifts declaring ‘It’s a boy’. Though the singer initially refused to comment, she has now confirmed that she’s expecting a son next month.

Alanis revealed earlier this year that she only discovered the pregnancy after visiting her doctor for another reason.

"I went to the doctor and he said, 'Well this looks like the scan of a pregnant lady.'"

When asked if she was at the doctor’s to find out if she was pregnant, she said: "No, actually I thought I wasn't."
