Musician and former My Chemical Romance sensation Gerard Way is teaming up with the legendary DC Comics for a new graphic novel series.

The star made the exciting announcement about this new imprint entitled 'Young Animal' at the Emerald City Comic Con event in Seattle earlier this week. Speaking about the project, Way said:

“I see Young Animal as a place to try new ideas - following the spirit of those books from the past but bring them somewhere else."

The rocker added: "I see it as an imprint where we can explore fine art, bold concepts, mature themes, and strangeness - with lots of heart.” 

Way also tweeted about the news, writing: "Thank you everyone who has congratulated team Young Animal and myself. I'm trying to fav all the tweets as I haven't been able to reply. To all the Doom Patrol fans out there- I promise to honor the legacy of this book- that is to say I'm going to put it in a fucking blender. I woke up at 5:30am, most likely due to all the excitement. I might as well get coffee and start writing- I have a lot of that to do!"
