Filmmaker Peter Berg is set to direct a new documentary about music sensation Rihanna, who he worked with on the 2012 blockbuster 'Battleship'.

This is set to be the first creation to come from Berg's (pictured below with Rihanna) non-scripted production company, Film 45, and a press release for the project reads:

"Follow this true international superstar as she navigates life as an artist, businesswoman, and humanitarian, while contending with the inherent pressure of artistic freedom. Peter Berg's Rihanna is an unfiltered look into Rihanna's life and how she's ascended to become a global icon, providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world's most well-known pop artists."

Berg also explained that the documentary will focus on "a young artist at the top of her professional field" and said that the movie will be "much more a character study than a music film."

Rihanna, meanwhile, recently won the Rock Star Award at the annual Black Girls Rock! event and told the audience that she hopes to inspire young women: "The minute you learn to love yourself, you will not want to be anybody else. Role model is not the title they like to give me…but I think I can inspire a lot of young women to be themselves and that is half the battle. Hopefully one day I'll be raising my own little black girl who rocks."
