Sam Smith's boyfriend wants him to front a new eating disorder charity

'Stay With Me' sensation Sam Smith is wanted as the face of a new charity that will aim to help people living with eating disorders

Model Jay Camilleri, with whom Smith has been romantically linked recently, told Britain's The Sun newspaper that his relationship with the superstar is going well so far although it's still very new:

“It’s early days with Sam and I, but we have been hanging out a lot having drinks, like at Shoreditch House. People have noticed. I want to prove myself and I’m not the sort of person who wants to trade on somebody else’s fame but, let’s face it, modelling isn’t going to be a long-term career. I mean, I’m no David Gandy.“

Camilleri, who appeared on E4 reality show 'Dirty Sexy Things', went onto add that he has suffered with anorexia in the past and wants to create a documentary highlighting men's weight issues, and also has plans to launch a charity for people with eating disorders, which he hopes Smith will be involved in:

“I suffered hell with anorexia and now I love my food and put on weight if I’m not careful. Sam’s lost weight but he’s supportive."

“I’m producing a documentary on men’s weight issues, as it hasn’t really been covered, and set up a charity for eating disorders for friends and family of people suffering and who don’t know how to cope. I’m hoping Sam, who’s had his own weight battles, will be the patron.”

Smith, meanwhile, has been on a healthy eating plan for a while now and has slimmed down considerably, but last year told press that seeing a topless photograph of himself on the beach made him want to kill himself:

“I saw a picture of me on New Year’s Eve topless on a beach in Sydney and it made me want to kill myself. I thought I was huge. I was put in contact with Amelia, who got Boy George to lose all his weight.”
