David Bowie's 'Blackstar' named UK's best selling vinyl of last year

David Bowie has topped a list of the UK's best selling vinyl albums of the last 12 months.

The late musician only issued 'Blackstar' in January, but it sold by the bucketloads after his untimely death just days after the record's release.

Adele's '25' was the second most popular vinyl, while Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' is No.3 on the list.

The Stone Roses' self-titled album is No.4, while the Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack is No.5.

A total of 2.39 million vinyl albums were sold in the last 12 months.

Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot commented:

"It is entirely fitting that Bowie’s final release, 'Blackstar', is the album that Britain’s vinyl shoppers have taken to their heart in droves so far this year, proving the Starman’s lasting impact on the charts, and the nation’s record collections, for undoubtedly many more years to come.”
