Biffy Clyro's frontman struggled while working on new album

Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil has opened up about struggling with mental health issues and hard times while working on the band's upcoming new album, 'Ellipsis'

During an interview with the NME, he explained that a series of deaths really shook him up and left him struggling to cope: "I had a bit of a ‘do’... Storm [Thorgerson, designer of their artwork] died; my gran died; my best friend’s brother died on Christmas Day… It felt like when things couldn’t get any worse, they just kept getting worse.”

Neil went onto add that he "needed to sort [his] f**king s**t out" so he packed up and went to Los Angeles with his wife for a little while, and the change of scenery helped him get back to himself: "That was the turning point in getting my confidence back."

Biffy Clyro, meanwhile, will release their new album on July 8 and they have recently been confirmed to perform live at this year's Reading and Leeds Festival.
