Sir Tom Jones has reached out to his fans after the death of his wife.

Melinda Woodward passed away in Los Angeles earlier this month after a short battle with cancer.

The pair had been married since 1957, with Jones only 17 at the time.

Speaking in a message on his website, Jones wrote: "A heartfelt thank you to all who sent notes of their sympathy and support to me and my family over the last couple of weeks.

"So many beautiful and meaningful things were said, and reading these genuine and lovely messages has lifted us all. See you soon."

The singer had previously cancelled shows in Asia after learning about his wife's serious illness.
