Elton John, royal busker

Sir Elton John has hinted that he will indeed be playing at the royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton, as a busker.

The music legend was a close friend of William’s mother Princess Diana and famously adapted his song ‘Candle In The Wind’ for her life, tapping into a nation’s grief and making it the biggest-selling single in UK chart history.

When asked if he would be performing at the wedding – which is scheduled to take place on April 29, 2011 – the ‘Your Song’ hitmaker said he “probably” would.

Talking to Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright he said: "I probably am." Then quickly joked: "I'll probably be busking outside."
