Jay-Z and U2 pay tribute to miners

Rap superstar Jay-Z and Irish band U2 paid tribute last night (November 25) to the 29 tragic miners now believed dead in New Zealand.

The workers had been trapped in a mine in Pike River since Friday (November 19), but are now feared dead after a second explosion collapsed the mine.

Before launching into ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’, U2, who were headlining the Auckland concert displayed the names of all the miners on the large screens at the Mt Smart Stadium while Bono said: "People have ways of dealing with grief. In Ireland we sing."

Jay-Z, who was opening the show, also made mention of the tragedy, dedicating ‘Forever Yong’ to the lost men and saying: "They will always be in our hearts and they will always be forever young".
