Rising star Troye Sivan has been announced as Kia’s "One to Watch,” an award established last year at the Billboard Music Awards to support and highlight emerging artists. 

Billboard explained why he was chosen to receive the accolade: "Sivan’s BBMAs honor is recognition for making the incredible leap from bedroom producer to global recording star."

"His 2014 mini-album release, TRXYE, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and its follow-up, the Wild EP, received social media praise from superstars Sam Smith and Taylor Swift and reached No. 5 in the U.S. and U.K. Wildalso opened at No. 1 in Australia. His debut full-length album Blue Neighbourhoodcracked the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Sivan can boast 20 million social media followers and almost 1 billion streams to date."

Sivan has also now confirmed that he has been added to the list of performers for the upcoming BBMAs: "Alright you guys. I have something that I'm really happy to finally be able to tell you... on May 22nd, I'm going to be in Las Vegas because I'm going to be playing 'Youth' at the Billboard Music Awards."
