Rob Zombie defends Babymetal against metal genre snobbery

Earlier this week, rocker and filmmaker Rob Zombie shared a photograph of himself with Japanese stars Babymetal and accompanied it with the caption "backstage with my new pals, Babymetal".

Fans of the 'Dragula' star flooded his official Twitter page, on which he regularly responds to posts, with criticism and he was quick to support the Japanese trio.

One user wrote, "Are you kidding me, Rob? BABYMETAL is J-pop, not metal. But to each their own, I guess." Upon seeing the message, he replied, "these three girls had more energy than 90 percent of the bands we play with."

In response to another post displaying unsurprising metal music snobbery, Zombie added: "They roll harder than you." He also told another Facebook fan: "Hey, they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?"

Babymetal then shared a post online, thanking Rob Zombie for the support: "Thank you, Rob! The Spirit of HEAVY METAL traversed across the world, rose above language barriers, went beyond generations
and created countless legends. See you again at Northern Invasion!"
