Blake Shelton on Gwen Stefani duet: 'I sent it to her half-done'

Country sensation Blake Shelton has opened up about his duet with girlfriend Gwen Stefani, entitled 'Go Ahead And Break My Heart', and confessed that he is very proud of it.

Speaking to The Today Show, he explained that they wrote their parts separately: "I sent it to her just half done and said, 'I wrote a song, kind of about you,' and she wrote the next verse and sent it back to me. It was like, 'Well, we got a song together. That's kind of cool!'"

Shelton added: "I played it for my sister and my mum and a few people, and they were like, 'My God, I love that song!' and so (I) decided to put it on the record and this crazy stuff started happening."

The pair will perform their duet together at the Billboard Music Awards on May 22 in Las Vegas. Other confirmed performers include Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato, Troye Sivan, Ariana Grande, Lukas Graham and Meghan Trainor.

Shelton also spoke about his romance with Stefani, adding that it's strange to see it all over the press: "It's a little weird, but I get it... We could not be, on paper, any more different. I'm a country singer and she's a ska, rock, pop, whatever it is... It's just an odd idea. But man, it's a lot of fun. I've got to be honest about that."
