Despite claims early on in her career, rapper Nicki Minaj has admitted that she is not actually bisexual and only claimed to be to gain press.

The star spoke to Rolling Stone magazine recently about her childhood and quick rise to fame saying she’s proud that she never had to result to drug dealing to gain rap credibility.

"At one point you had to sell a few kilos to be considered a credible rapper," she says. "But now it's like Drake and I are embracing the fact that we went to school, we love acting, we love theatre, and that's ok – and it's especially good for the black community to know that's ok, that's embraced."

However, Minaj was not beyond exaggerating for attention, having suggested previously that she was bisexual.

"I think girls are sexy," she explained. "But I'm not going to lie and say that I date girls."
