ABBA member praises modern pop music from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry

Björn Kristian Ulvaeus, of ABBA fame, has revealed that he is a fan of modern pop music

The singer sat down for an interview with Britain's The Guardian newspaper and admitted that he has been particularly impressed by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Adele's songs over the past couple of years.

He explained to the publication:

"I hear a really good pop song every now and then. ROAR by Katy Perry, I love that! Poker Face … oh! What a song! And Rolling in the Deep … oh!"

When asked if he ever feels envious of the popularity modern artists enjoy, Björn added that he does feel the occasional pang of jealousy but feels that writing pop music is best left to young people: "Oh, jealous, definitely! But I realise it's a young man or woman's work to write pop music."

Back in May, Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen told the Vancouver Sun that her new music has been inspired by ABBA: "I can't explain what we're doing right now, but we're very much into disco-y things, whatever this next album may or may not turn out to be. But I'm very much referencing ABBA a lot, and the Bee Gees, all of that stuff.

Over the weekend, all four members of ABBA reunited for the first time and performed at the Berns Salonger hotel in Stockholm to mark their 50th anniversary.
