Glastonbury commissioned a David Bowie eye sculpture

This year's Glastonbury Festival will pay tribute to Motorhead's Lemmy, David Bowie and Prince, and details of the tributes have started to be unveiled.

Sculptor Joe Rush spoke to Britain's Guardian newspaper and confessed that he was commissioned by Emily Eavis to create an eye to represent the late David Bowie, who passed away in January after a very private battle with cancer:

It felt important to capture Bowie’s very particular eye, which was such a part of his look", said Rush. "But I also really liked the idea of Bowie looking out and watching over the whole festival. And if we are going to have an eye in the pyramid, it should be Bowie’s eye."

Rush has also built something to commemorate the late Prince and rock icon Lemmy, and both sculptures will be at Glastonbury over the weekend of June 25.

Earlier this month, Michael Eavis told Britain's The Sun newspaperthat Prince was in talks to perform at the festival: "I was going to meet his agent, it was all planned but it didn’t happen. His death was so sad. That’s a real star that we never had."
