Sir Elton John has praised the people of Scotland for wishing to remain in the European Union.

Nearly 52 per cent of UK voters decided on Thursday (June 23) that the country would be best quitting the EU.

However, 62 per cent of Scotland voted to stay.

Speaking at a gig at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday (June 25), John saluted Scotland for their vote.

He said: We haven’t seen blue skies anywhere else in Britain.

"That’s because you voted to stay in Europe. You’re the only f**king sensible people in Britain."

Northern Ireland also voted to stay in the EU.
