Adele and Coldplay help Glastonbury Festival reach new viewing recordAdele and Coldplay have helped this year's Glastonbury Festival reach a new viewing peak on TV. The event, which took place at the weekend, was the most watched since it started being broadcast on the BBC. A total of 18.7 million people tuned in over the weekend. Adele's headline slot peaked at 3.7 million viewers - the highest amount for a Saturday night performance since 2008. Coldplay broke the record for the amount of viewers for a Sunday night headline show with 3.4 million viewers. Jeff Lynne's ELO set a new record for the amount of viewers for the Sunday legends slot - 2.4 million. Friday night headliners Muse, however, attracted 346,000 viewers during BBC Four's live broadcast and 420,000 when it was replayed on BBC Two.
