Kelly Osbourne has a yearly HIV test

Kelly Osbourne has revealed that she is annually tested for HIV.

The star said she was first tested at age 17 when she applied for a green card to live in the US and had a second when her boyfriend at the time was in hospital. She has since decided to make the check-up and annual event.

Of her second testing, Kelly said: "[My boyfriend] was in the hospital getting his appendix taken out and they needed to test him and they were like, 'Why don't the both of you get tested?'

"Now, it's something that is part my yearly check-up with my doctor."

Speaking to E!, Osbourne explained how important it is to be aware of HIV and AIDS, to get tested regularly and to practice safe sex.

She told E!: "When people say things like, 'It's never going to happen to me,' or, 'I'll never get it,' they're less inclined to protect themselves the way that they should. It's so simple. All you have to do is wear a condom. It's not like anyone is asking you to do something really difficult and hard."
