Brad Simpson on finding genuine girls to date: 'I try not to be that cynical'

The Vamps frontman Brad Simpson recently appeared on Channel 4's First Dates and admitted that it took a lot of balls for him to say yes to the show.

Chatting to Gaby Roslin this week, the heartthrob explained that going on the programme was anxiety inducing, but he genuinely enjoyed every minute of it:

"I hadn't dated much really before and I thought it was just a bit of fun! The team that set it up are really good and genuinely match really, really well. We did, we got on really well and she's such a lovely girl."

When asked why he finds it hard to meet girls to date, Simpson explained that his schedule doesn't really allow for getting to know potential partners: "I think we're very busy, which makes it really hard."

"think there's a common misconception in the whole of the entertainment industry that people in the public eye have got it made and they can meet people really easily. But at the same time it's a hindrance because people already have this perception of you and this idea of what you're like in their heads... so you're going into meeting someone and they feel like they already know you. That can hold you back a bit."

He was then quizzed on if he ever worries that the people he dates are just with him because he's a singer in a band and confessed that he's trying not to "be that cynical":

"Sometimes, yeah. I try not to be that cynical. I try to go into things open-mindedly and try to just see the best in people. There have been occasions like that, but you can't let that cloud your judgement of people."
