The 1975 on their stage show: 'Arenas are necessary for this era'

The 1975 have revealed that their current era requires them to perform in arenas because they're putting on a particular stage show that works best in that setting.

During an AMA session on Tumblr this week, the band were asked if they could see themselves playing at Wembley Stadium in the future and they explained that for now, arenas are good enough:

"Who knows! We would love to but we will also be returning to theatres and halls in the future we don't just wanna play arenas. We will play whatever our show at the time requires. For the end of the 'I like it when you sleep..' era arenas are necessary."

The band will headline London's O2 Arena, which has a capacity of around 20,000, on December 16 and tickets are on sale now.

Frontman Matt Healy recently admitted that performing live takes a lot out of him, telling BBC Newsbeat: "I can't have too much build up. It takes a lot for me to do this (perform) and sometimes I need to take it easy. I like to rock up, do it, and not think about it too much."
