Frank Ocean producer on album delay: 'Art can't be rushed'

Frank Ocean producer Malay has explained the delay behind the musician's upcoming second album.

Fans have been waiting patiently for months for the follow-up to Ocean's 2012 debut 'Channel Orange'.

A recent 'Boys Don't Cry' livestream event raised hopes of an imminent release, but the record still hasn't dropped.

Speaking on a Reddit AMA, Malay said Ocean doesn't want to "rush" the album.

He said: "First of all we all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times.

"To be fair though, art cannot be rushed. It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached. To do that takes constant tweaking, trial and error. That goes for any creative situation."

Malay added that he had "never heard of an actual date" for the album's release.

As previously reported, Ocean appeared to suggest that 'Boys Don't Cry' will now land on November 13.
