Dolly Parton on songwriting plagiarism: 'I always worry about it'

Country icon Dolly Parton has revealed that she feels for modern artists who are slapped with plagiarism lawsuits because she often worries about subconsciously copying songs she has heard in the past.

Chatting to the BBC, she explained that unfortunately it's something that can happen easily, so it's constantly on her mind when she's writing new material:

"I always worry about it so much when I write. You don't set out to try and steal anything, but it can happen."

Parton's new album, entitled "Pure & Simple", was officially released today and chatting about the record recently, she said:

"I may not be pure, but I’m as simple as they come! This new Pure & Simple project is really special to me because I’m taking my fans back to my roots. I feel like these songs have a pure, tender side and we didn’t go overboard with arrangements. I’m so glad we’ve teamed up with our friends at Sony to get this album out to the fans.”
