Brett Anderson blasts final Suede album

Brett Anderson has revealed that he feels Suede’s final album was “weak” and that the group should have split up before they recorded it.

The band – who has recently reunited for a series of gigs this year – broke up in 2003 after releasing their last record ‘A New Morning’.

The swansong record was a critical and commercial flop and Suede frontman Brett Anderson does not necessarily disagree with the reaction.

Speaking to German music blog Monarchie & Alltag, Anderson said:  "I don't like it. With all due respect to people who liked it back at the time, it's the weakest Suede record and to be pretty frank, I regret making it. It would have been much better for Suede if we had split up before making A New Morning.

"But that's the benefit of hindsight. It's not as easy not to make c**p decisions when you are in the heat of the moment. It's got some good moments... Unfortunately we were quite confused at the time and we didn't know which songs the good songs were and which (were) the bad... I'm willing to hold my hands up and say 'It's not the best Suede album!'"
